Roadtrippin!

G'day mates!

What an awesome weekend that was! Saturday morning early Sharona and I prepared for our journey to the Great Ocean Road. We took a train from Melbourne to Geelong and rented a car to go further along the coast. First stop on the way was Jan Juc. Beautiful panorama, like you wouldn't believe it. Although the views were priceless, the sounds of those heavy waves were even better. The sea was pretty rough, but that didn't hold back the die-hard surfers.
After Jan Juc we drove to Lorne and had lunch besides the beach. You'd think all these beach spots have the same views, but they actually all have their own twist to it.
Sharona then pulled over at Kennett River, so we could see some wild koalas and exotic birds. The birds really seemed to like her, as one even landed on her back. Good on ya!

After cruising a little further, we arrived in Apollo Bay where we'd stay for the night. I actually loved the panorama in Apollo Bay the best of all, as it reminded me of Scotland. Lush green hills were the view from our hostel, couldn't be beat.
The next day we got up early to drive to Anglesea. Sharona had to be here for her lifesaving exam. Heaps of athletic Ozzies from all ages lined up for the test. Luckily the sea was less rough today and many locals already found their place on the beach on Sunday morning.
Sharona now has her Bronze, hooray! You'll find her patrolling on the beach somewhere this Australian summer in Torquay!

The rest of the day we hung out in Torquay. Another surf city, with many surf shops and oh-so-cool Australian surfer boys and chicks. The heat almost got the best of me there, 34 degrees! I guess I have to get used to this kind of weather (Not too weired when you're coming from a country where it's nearly snowing).

Today is another hot and steamy day, so I'll be getting out soon!

Hooroo! (Apparently this means 'goodbye'. Seriously weird slang they got here)

Carpe diem!
