How cool it's gonna getta in Coolangatta

Hi there!

Because of a lack of computer access, hereby my update from my visit to Coolangatta! This town is located just right from the Gold Coast on the East Coast of Australia. I decided not to go to Surfers Paradise, to avoid all the buzz from schoolies and what not.

Coolangatta seemed to be a perfect choice.
Í arrived at Komune hostel, which was perfectly located on the end of the marine parade (right near the beach).
In shared my female dorm with some lovely ladies! One of them was Sophie, from Göteborg. Surprisingly, I always find myself some Swedish people.. Her friend Lina (also from Göteborg region) came a few days later. Also joining us was an English girl named Toni.
I absolutely loved speaking Swedish again! Sophie was super helpful, so learned a lot of new words. Oh my, do I love Sweden and their sweet inhabitants!

Coolangatta was fairly quiet, it's low season due to Christmas coming up. It's very weird that is so hot outside, you don't get that Christmassy feeling (although Santa can be found in every mall, including the whole warm outfit).
The bay in Coolangatta is breathtaking. The area around Snapper Rocks and Point Danger (what's in the name?) are for super advanced surfers. There are strong currents and high waves, so a place to be very careful.

Although it was very windy in Coolangatta, we did go to the beach a few times, visited some shops, a farmers market and even went on a hike. Toni and I decided to walk paast the border (Queensland to New South Wales) to Tweed Heads and Tweeds City. Took us a little over an hour, but in the heat it feels much longer. The airco in the mall was a pleasant reward!

Unfortunately I had to leave Coolangatta on Thursday evening, as I was heading off to Cairns, which is all up north. Lina and Sophie continued to Noosa and Toni left for Melbourne.
But more about Cairns in the next post, enjoy the photos!
