The weather has been starting to get really good the past few days. The British summer is definitely starting here on the Southern coast. We all know that every town looks better when there is sunshine, but I must say that Brighton really gets this extra glow and relaxing atmosphere when the sun is out. There are lots of people who just come here for the weekend (including all those beloved stag and hen parties, where do I hide?).
But how amazing is it to live in one of those coastal towns? It's pretty good I'll tell ya. Having lunch in the parc next to my work, bbq's on Saturdays and reading a book on the beach on Sundays.
Talking about barbecues: yesterday my colleague John and his girlfriend hosted a barbecue. They live in Hove, which is basically a town attached to Brighton. Almost everyone from work was there, and as it was a potluck, everyone really made an effort to create something interesting. My toffee & hazulnut cake did not work out as I had planned (it fell into pieces, but still tasted good!), but luckily my colleague Keith made a delicious peanutbutter & chocolate cheesecake. And lucky for me, he is sending me the recipe!
We also watched the Arsenal-Hull game. Thank God Arsenal won, otherwise a few people would not have been happy campers at the potluck dinner.. I also tried to watch Netherlands-Ecuador, the fanatic as I am. Not the best game ever, but let's be honest, I am counting down those days until the World Cup starts!!
Just got some lovely succulents in from Aldi (this Aldi seems to have everything?!) and soon I am off to the beach with my packed lunch and my new book that I got from the library I signed up for. And no, I am not joking (I can hear the confusion and amazement). I might not be the biggest reader in the world, but I can't deny my passion for adventurous stories, so I got myself a great book about two guys and their journey to the Arctic. See, that might surprise you all less !
Enjoy the photos!
Carpe diem,
Yashira
PS: In case anyone wonders why I am not on these photos, see I am the photographer and photographers don't like their pictures taken. But I promise, soon more photos of me. I think.
