First impressions - Brighton at sea

Goodmorning!

First week in Brighton is over and what a rollercoaster it has been! A good one, I must admit.

Last Sunday I packed my bags and left from the airport to be arriving at Gatwick airport. Those days are not the most fun as you can imagine: saying goodbyes, adrenaline running wild and free and with no idea of how things will be like when you arrive in a city you have never been to, to start a new job.

After a 2 hour delay at the airport and half an hour delay with the slow(!) train, I arrived in Brighton.
I booked a few days in a hostel, as I didn't have any place to stay in Brighton just yet. The hostel was fine, met some really nice people and the location was very central. On that first night I had my first viewing as well. Completely knackered from that trip (seriously I get jetlagged from 1 hour flights..) I tried to find my way around town. The house was nice and so where the girls, but I didn't hear back from them until Tuesday evening. However.. on Tuesday afternoon I had another viewing. This house was amazing! Two lovely girls, beautiful street, perfect central location. This had to be it! So fingers crossed (and so did all my new friends at the hostel) and luckily they called me later that evening. Whoohoo, I got myself a house!

I must say I have been really lucky, as I know some people are already waiting for a house for weeks and weeks. Definitely feeling blessed here. Yesterday I went to a second hand furniture shop (and oh my did they have a lot! I could walk around for hours) to buy all the furniture I needed for just 85£! And they are delivering it as well! Lucky kid.

My new colleague (and fellow Dutchie as well) helped me carrying my new bedding from Primark yesterday, so things are falling into place :) Talking about colleagues, I started work on Thursday and worked on Friday as well, to have my first long weekend already (bank holiday tomorrow). Everyone has been really nice and easygoing at work so far. We have a foosball table in the middle of the office and at the end of the day we all play a game (including our CEO, pretty awesome I must say).

Although new beginnings are always difficult, I have been lucky so far that everything has been going well. As Bear Grylls would say: No one likes change, except for a baby with a wet nappy! I still have quite some things to take care of and arrange, but I am definitely on the right track.

I say: a little hurray!

Enjoy my fotos!
